Our Projects

Wind turbines during sunset

Mulilo aims to bring 5GW of renewable energy and battery energy storage projects into construction and operation by 2028.

We currently operate 420 MW of wind and solar projects, with 667 MW in construction, approximately 1500 MW nearing Financial Close and have a long-term development pipeline of over 30 GW.

Operational solar and wind projects

Each of our operational projects target key trends in the energy transition by emphasising technological innovation and the integration of renewable energy systems.

Project Oasis

Mulilo has 3 battery energy storage system (BESS) projects chosen as preferred bidders for the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy’s inaugural battery energy storage system independent power producer procurement programme (BESIPPPP). The three projects – Oasis Aggeneis, Oasis Mookodi, and Oasis Nieuwehoop - with a combined capacity of 257 MW/1,028 MWh, will be located in the Northern Cape and North West Provinces, providing cost-effective and efficient storage to bolster the country's electricity grid. Construction is set to begin in mid-2024, with projects operating under a 15-year power purchase agreement with Eskom.

Sasol Projects

Mulilo, together with TotalEnergies, has signed two Power Purchase Agreements with Sasol and Air Liquide for the long-term supply of 260 MW of renewable power from a 140 MW wind  facility and a 120 MW solar facility. Power will be supplied to Sasol’s Secunda site, where Air Liquide operates the biggest oxygen production site in the world – with a total capacity of 47,000 tonnes/day of oxygen.

Air Products

Mulilo has signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Air Products South Africa for the long-term supply of 75 MW of renewable power. This power will be generated by a solar facility, to be jointly owned by Air Products and Mulilo. Located in the Northern Cape, the solar facility will have a capacity to generate approximately 240 GWh of electricity annually.
